HTS Launches AvertechTM Wander Management System for Senior Living

(Dubuque, IA) Home Technology Systems, Inc., a leading distributor of resident safety systems in the Senior Living sector, launched its new Avertech active RFID monitoring and wander management system. Avertech is designed to provide senior living retirement communities and memory care facilities an intelligent, integration-friendly, and virtually interference-free solution for preventing residents with dementia from wandering away from building or designated area.

A microprocessor-based system, Avertech utilizes advanced electronics and 418.5 MHz carrier wireless Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to fully identify residents, determine their access and egress rights, and communicate alerts digitally, audibly, and remotely, if desired. Unlike analog-based patient elopement and wander prevention systems, Avertech utilizes digital RFID to navigate signals around radio frequency interference (RFI) and obstructions, offering the Senior Living industry a virtually interference-free solution. In Senior Living Communities, RFI can be produced by a host of commonly-used electrical devices, including air handlers, florescent lights, telephone systems, local area networks, Wi-Fi, fire panels, and many other current and future technologies. It’s the natural attributes of digital pulsing which makes digital communication ideal for wandering patient systems requiring high signal quality and consistent performance.

The system’s efficient design incorporates the controller, keypad and LCD display into one compact unit. No additional equipment is required, resulting in a simpler, faster, aesthetically-pleasing installation. Resident transmitter tags include a long-life, three-year, factory-replaceable battery, providing significant savings over competitors’ shorter-life and disposable tags.

Avertech’s integration-friendly platform is designed to help communities gain efficiencies by eliminating duplicate hardware and streamlining communications. The system can be seamlessly integrated with a wide variety of electromagnetic locks, access control systems, and other security and communication devices, enabling shared monitoring and reporting over the Avertech network.

“From working with Senior Living Retirement Community customers we’ve learned they are not satisfied with a one-size-fits-all design and desire more flexibility than what’s currently available in the marketplace,” said John Sola, HTS’ Vice President of Marketing and Development. “Avertech’s advanced electronics offers communities the flexibility they need to provide personalized access and egress rights and it can be configured as a stand-alone or networked system. Furthermore, it’s capability for systems integration provides efficiencies and a better return on investment.”

Avertech is distributed exclusively through Home Technology Systems and its nationwide network of certified dealers. To learn more about Avertech or to request a demonstration from a local dealer, visit HTS’ website at www.hometechsystems.com or contact an HTS representative at (800) 922-3555.
